Glad you're here!

Welcome to my personal blog. Squirrel(!) is such an appropriate title for this spot on the Internet. This began as a way to share the journal from my walk across England with hubby Jan. That trip is archived here for you to enjoy (June of 2012), but now when you visit you'll read my crazy musings on everything from horses, to cars, to grammar, to books, baseball, or weasels. Don't get whiplash trying to figure out a theme; just watch out for the squirrels!

A New Journey

It's a wild and crazy day. Why? Because I'm creating something I said I never would:  a personal blog site where I will try to keep in touch with my inner randomness and share it with the world -- even if it's a small world. Writers are told from the time they finish their first book to think about their brands.  I've been struggling with that for years. What the heck is my brand?  I finally figured it out--my brand is haphazard, unplanned randomness.

Ask me my favorite color and I'll tell you it depends on the day. My favorite food: anything with sugar in it. My favorite flower? A bouquet of mixed bright-colored blooms (although a daisy can make almost any bouquet better!).  The point is, I am an eclectic brand and this blog will be an eclectic blog.

I'm launching it -- The Squirrel(!) Blog -- as a travelogue for my imminent hike with Jan along the Coast to Coast path in northern England.

For the next three weeks you can follow our journey here. I'll post pictures and descriptions as often as I find Internet along the 190-mile route we'll be walking over sixteen days. I hope you'll come vicariously along.

Stay tuned -- we leave on Wednesday, June 6th. I'll let you know if we get packed in time!

This isn't our picture, but it is a view from the Coast-to-Coast Walk. Pretty soon we'll have our own just like it!

And another --  we are really looking forward to scenery like this!
